Many textbooks have been written to teach how to speak foreign languages but textbooks can only take you so far, even with the various media of videos and audio files.
The best way is to just face it head on in its natural environment. Go out there, and don’t be shy. If you are a beginner, you are bound to make mistakes. More likely, the natives will appreciate your effort to speak their language than pointing out your mistakes and laughing at it.
Children absorb languages very quickly because they are unafraid to make mistakes and are not conscientious about their grammar or pronunciation. Very young children make errors with their own first language. Although adults may laugh at the cuteness, they shrug it off and learn from their mistakes. Adults need to do the same.
Just as a note, if you have taken Japanese in the past, you will have an easier time with Korean. In this book, we will try to show some basics so that you can go into the native environment.
If you wish to test your proficiency in Korean, you can participate in TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean).

Learn Korean A Guide to Learning the Basics of a New Language eBook Jenna Swan Hwa Ji Kim Reviews
Helpful, though I recommend reading a learn to read korean book before this. To achieve pronunciation u found highlighting it and using translate helps
This book is a great collection of vocabulary as well as ready-to-use sentences in many different situations. It is a great option for beginners who would like to learn Korean at home, or just memorize a few useful sentences.
I have some friends from South Korea and I thought it would be awesome to learn a few phrases and surprise them. Korean turned out to be easier than it appeared at the beginning. After just a couple of days I was able to write and read, of course at first without understanding, but my friends really liked the idea of me learning Korean and they try to teach me a few new words every day.
I recommend this book to everyone who would like to start learning Korean. I think that the only missing thing is an audio file with correct pronunciation. Not everything is easy to pronounce and luckily I have many friend to help me, but I’m afraid that other learners may have some problems with that. However, I really like the book and I am super motivated to learn Korean.
I received a digital copy of this book via Member Giveaway on LibraryThing in an exchange for an honest review.
I asked for a copy of this new publication to review and received a free PDF copy to use. The author has done an excellent job in developing an introduction to Korean. I have studied Korean at one of our best universities and visited several times, spending close to two years there in total. A native speaker may have a different reaction, but my take is that this book does a great job in making basic Korean available to an adult beginner with a desire to get started in a new language or to prepare for a visit to a new country. The phonetic alphabet is well demonstrated and pronunciations are well done. Since Korean is pronounced pretty much the same throughout the country (unlike China for example) you can go anywhere in Korea with this book and be understood. Were I new to the Korean language, I would add to this book some form of app or CD that that has common phrases vocalized--easy to match with those in the book--to provide a better feel for the spoken language.
I wish it had a CD portion to help achieve the right pronunciation with it. It had a wide range of information. Thank you.
Did not give you the necessary information needed to learn another language. Its better as a practice book after you know more of the language you want to learn. Will be returning it.
Daughter loves the book as she is teaching herself how to speak Korean
